Google Pixel 6a Listed On Best Buy Ahead Of Launch
The Pixel 6a has been listed on Best Buy ahead of its official launch. It will be available for pre-order on July 21 and will go on sale on July 28.
The Pixel 6a has been listed on Best Buy ahead of its official launch next month. Google unveiled the Pixel 6a at I/O 2022 in early May following a barrage of leaks and rumors over the preceding weeks. Much of the critical tech specs and features of the upcoming device has already been announced by Google, while the official images also revealed its design in all its glory. As such, it is expected to be a slightly smaller version of the Pixel 6 with similar performance in terms of day-to-day usage, but with less impressive imaging chops compared to its more expensive stablemate.
The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have been widely praised as the best smartphones in the Pixel family to date. They have attractive designs, great cameras, snappy performance, and a host of cool software features that make them among the best smartphones to buy at their respective price-points. So with the Pixel 6a all set to launch, many are expecting it to be better than its predecessor, the Pixel 5a, which is widely seen as one of the more boring launches in Pixel’s history.
The Google Pixel 6a has just been listed on Best Buy in all three—Sage, Charcoal, and Chalk—color options. Shoppers buying the Pixel 6a from Best Buy can choose an unlocked version of the phone or can opt to get one for their particular carrier. The list price is $449, which is the same amount they will have to pay if they were to buy from the Google Store. The listing says that the device is ‘coming soon’ with a July 28th release date. Google had earlier confirmed that the device will be available for pre-order on July 21 and will go on sale on July 28.
Pixel 6a Shares Pixel 6’S DNA
Google has much bigger plans for the Pixel 6a than it did for its predecessor. While the Pixel 5a was only sold through the Google Store and in a handful of countries, the Pixel 6a will be sold in many more countries and through third-party retailers alongside the official Google Store. In fact, the phone will even be sold in India, where Google hasn’t officially released a Pixel device in more than two years. It will also be faster than the Pixel 5a and have a refreshed design, similar to the Pixel 6.
The Pixel 6a shares the Pixel 6 DNA in more ways than one. It not only shares a very similar design, but is also powered by the exact same Google Tensor chipset. However, it will have a smaller 6.1-inch screen and a slower 60Hz refresh rate compared to the Pixel 6. It will also ditch the new 50 megapixel sensor of the Pixel 6/6 Pro and sport the same 12.2 megapixel primary camera found on the Pixel 5a. Overall, the Pixel 6a will certainly be a downgrade from the Pixel 6, but will still be worth waiting for, largely thanks to the promise of pure Android and long-term software support.
